Comfy Kitchen

This kitchen is maybe a bit fancy for my taste but there are a few things I'd like to point out about it.  First,  look at the armchairs adjacent the island.  Maybe it's because I often feel isolated while I'm cooking, but I'd love for my husband or a friend to be able to settle in next to me while I'm working.  And somehow it feels more comfortable to sit in armchairs than at a bar.  With kids in the house, the armchairs would  probably need to be slip covered, but still, it's a beautiful idea.

Second, I love how the coffee bar is separated from the rest of the kitchen.  No need to interrupt what's going on in the cooking area to pour yourself another cup while lazily reading the paper in those armchairs.

Third, if the floor of the kitchen were stone or tile, it would feel a lot less warm and inviting to sit in the armchairs, so I think the choice of hardwood is perfect for the space.

Another one to tuck away into the files of "someday kitchen."

Hope you've had a good start to your week, Everyone.

  1. Love how you broke this down for us. I think what stands out most to me is the coffee bar removed from the kitchen work area. Makes perfect sense !!

  2. I think you and I are on the same page when it comes to kitchens...not too big, not too fancy. And you are right about this one...wood floors definitely, comfy chairs too. And that coffee station...how perfect is that? Love that it's a little separated from the main space. Perfect for gatherings for all kinds of drinks.

  4. I love these comfy wingback chairs in the kitchen. Having a sitting place while people work and where you can chat while entertaining is so useful. I dream about having a beautiful rustic fireplace in the kitchen with some chairs like these next to it :)

  6. I absolutely ADORE the idea of armchairs in the kitchen. It's so funny because about a month ago i was telling Naomi that I either wanted to put a small setee or an armchair under our window in our kitchen/dining. I also really love the thought of having friends or family lounge near me as I cook. This image just sealed the deal for me. Thanks, yet again, for the wonderful inspiration. You always deliver!

  7. I love this idea! Pinning it now, and trying to figure out how to recreate it (maybe when the kids are bigger!). Plus, I think I have to move my coffee area, it's in the way when I'm making breakfast/putting away dishes/ cooking in general! Sending lots of love your way!

  9. This is a great kitchen Camille--thanks so much for sharing it. I love how you analyze all the details so well. The upholstery and the wood does make it feel so cozy and inviting even though it is such a large space. Another great image to pin!
