In my last post about my sister and brother-in-law's house in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, I promised I would show a few interesting details.
I love their style which is a Moutain West mix of log cabin, ski chalet, industrial, vintage, and sleek modern. Here an antique gas lantern hangs to the right of their entry door.
And speaking of entry doors, how many of you have five pairs of skis hanging outside of yours?
Here is my sister cooking one of the fabulous meals she made for us while we were there.
Here's another identical shelf in the dining area. My brother-in-law machined the heavy-duty metal bracket which supports the shelf. What a fantastic storage solution!
And speaking of great storage solutions, how about attaching a vintage wood crate to the wall?
Now to the bathroom.
These industrial outdoor lights are used over both bathroom mirrors. There is even a rubber gasket where the globe screws on to keep out moisture.
I think this is my favorite detail in their home -- they use galvanized metal buckets from the hardware store for wastebaskets all over the house!
We had such a great time visiting them. We're in the mountains above Albuquerque, New Mexico now where we are visiting my parents. I hope to do a post on their house which was recently built and was also designed by my brother-in-law.

I like the corrugated metal on the front of the breakfast bar. And the industrial lights are great.
Hope you're having a great time!

Why don't you bring the Snyder Family Tour over to the East Coast, hmmm??? I'll give you something to write about ;)

Love all the rustic details, those buckets are such a clever idea too.
What a fun, unique home! I also LOVE that idea of using those metal buckets for waste baskets - very industrial looking and clever!
Love the little touches that make it so unusual....and not, I do not have 5 pairs of ski's at my door :) Sounds like a great trip, glad you are having fun.
