This last picture is a fabulous DIY mirror made with rope by the stylish and clever Leah Moss of Moss Eclectic. She attached the rope to the wall, not the mirror, which is from Ikea.
I love the rope "railing" on the stairs and the room dividers... so gorgeous and textural :) Are you planning on incorporating rope in your home? :D I would love to hang a hammock with some thick rope dropped from the ceiling... but I need a little more know-how on the structural support of our back porch... :) We'll see if I can make it happen.
Love all these photos, Camille, such inspiration, but I especially love the one with the orange rug and the hanging beds! The more formal lantern hanging from the ceiling adds the perfect sparkle to the room. Take care and have a great weekend! Lori www.lorimayinteriors.com/blog
What a fun post! Me personally think a little rope goes a long way. It can get alittle shabby chic. I saw the mirror DIY and thought it was so clever. Perfect amount of rope. Also the one in the bathroom is a smart way to get around an odd window in a bathroom.
The chandelier hoisted up by rope and pulley is my pick. Great images! Got your note. I think we have a blue industrial stool you might like. Hope to see you soon.
Just love the hanging beds--saw one in a deep portal in Santa Fe years ago and have been wishing I had a place for one since. Can't figure out just how these two are supported. there must be a lot going on in the attic!
Beautiful! Proof that the simplest objects can be the most interesting/prettiest. I love the diy rope mirror. I'm planning a diy headboard with some sisal/jute rope. Hope it turns out as good!
HI! great photos! we are planning on hanging a long pendant light from restoration hardware and are inspired about the rope idea to hang- do you know how to hollow out the rope or have ideas as to hide the electrical in the rope to hand; perhaps use an old pulley? I have googled and search and found no such luck- any thoughts? love your work! jamie
The only thing I can think of to hide the electrical cord is to spray paint it a similar color to the rope you intend to use and then braid it into a rope. I know that's probably not what you are looking for, but not sure what other options there are! Good luck!
Who knew rope could be so pretty!! I love the idea of using it as a tie-back!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to find good vintage rope like that. Some really beautiful uses of it. The mirror is great.
